Overview
The Recreation Department offers a wide variety of activities for the citizens of Fremont, including softball, baseball, tennis, soccer, archery, volleyball, horseshoes, hiking and biking trails, swimming, and sledding. Facilities such as the senior-adult center, splash pads, skate park, and Splash Station are continuously used by citizens and families.

Recreation Facilities
The department maintains 14 ball fields for practices and games for City Leagues as well as Independent Leagues, one regulation baseball field that is used by the American Legion, Archbishop Bergan High School, and Midland Lutheran College, as well as one football field that is used by Fremont High School, Archbishop Bergan High School, and Midland Lutheran College.

The eight field soccer complex at Christensen Field is utilized by the Fremont Soccer Club and is the home field for Fremont High School and Midland Lutheran College. The department also maintains over 400 acres of green space and park land.

In the summer months, the Recreation Department has several programs for the youth of Fremont including instructional baseball / softball, tiny-tots playgrounds, kid play playgrounds, swimming lessons, and special one day classes.

Recreation Programs

We are currently accepting registrations for Adult Co-Ed Sand Volleyball League and Co-Ed Church Softball League!

Co-Ed Sand Volleyball Info: 
Fee:    $50 per team due by Friday, May 9.
Games will be played at the Clemmons Sand Pit (19th & Luther Rd) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm.
Games will begin June 2.  Teams will play 8 regular season games followed by a double elimination tournament.  T-shirts will be awarded to the champions of the tournament.  Teams will officiate their own games.  No officials will be used.

Co-Ed Church Softball Info:
Fee:  $50 per team due by Friday, May 9.
Games will be played on June 8, 15, 22, 29; July 6, 20, 27; Aug 3 at Memorial Ball Fields.  Games will be scheduled at 3:30pm, 5:00pm, 6:30pm and 8:00pm.
League is open to first 16 teams that register and pay fee.

Disc Golf
Disc golf has arrived in Fremont. Be sure to check out the nine hole disc golf course at Johnson Park.

Disc golf is an activity that provides low cost recreation to the community while being low cost for installation and maintenance. This is an activity that can be played year round, in rain, snow, or sunshine.

Disc golf is the best kept recreational secret.

Bocce Courts at Christensen Field
Bocce is an ancient game, whose modern adaptation most closely resembles bowling.
  • It is a great game to play outside on a beautiful day.
  • It requires skill, strategy and just a little luck.
